Referral Prize Draw Terms and Conditions  

 

  1. What is the Prize?  

1.1 The Promoter: Vetted Limited, (trading as Checkatrade) a company incorporated in England & Wales (company number 04285394) with its registered office at Building 2000, Lakeside North Harbour, Western Road, Portsmouth, PO63EN (“Checkatrade”).

1.2 If a Checkatrade member (“Existing Member”) meets the Eligibility Criteria, in section 2 below, they will be entered into a prize draw to win 1 x £10,000. The remaining Eligible Entries (defined below) will all receive £500, (the “Prizes” and “Prize Draw” respectively).

1.3 The Existing Member can refer multiple Recommended Members and each referral that meets the Eligibility Criteria will count as one entry for the Existing Member into the Prize Draw (“Eligible Entry”).

1.4 The Prize Draw is subject to these Terms and Conditions.

  1. What are the Eligibility Criteria?  

2.1 For the Existing Member to be eligible to be entered into the Prize Draw:

Between 23rd January 2025 and 28th February 2025 (inclusive);

a) the Existing Member must send their referral link to another tradesperson recommending them  to become a Checkatrade member (“Recommended Member”); and

b) the Recommended Member must have applied for a Fixed Plan product by either

i) following the Existing Members referral link, registering for the referral programme and signing up to a Fixed Plan; or

ii) quoting the Existing Member’s referral code to a sales agent when calling in to Checkatrade to apply,

and before 17th March 2025;

c) the Recommended Member must have passed Checkatrade’s vetting process; and

d) the Existing Member and Recommended Member must have successfully opened their own sub-merchant account (“Account”) with Checkatrade’s third party payment services provider for the use of the Checkatrade payment processing service (“Service”),

together these are the “Eligibility Criteria”.

  1. How will the Prizes be drawn?  

3.1 Each Eligible Entry will be automatically entered into the Prize Draw to win a Prize.

3.2 Each Eligible Entry will be allocated a Prize at random (each a “Winner”) on or shortly after the 17th March 2025 (“Prize Draw Date”). Each Winner will be notified via email to their primary Checkatrade email address attached to their membership profile as soon as reasonably practical after the Prize Draw Date (“Notification”).

3.3 The Winner of the £10,000 Prize must confirm acceptance of the Prize, within 14 days of the date of the Notification, by responding via email to [email protected] (“Acceptance”).

3.4 If Checkatrade has not received the Acceptance (where required), that Winner will be deemed to have forfeited their Prize and Checkatrade reserves the right to select an alternative Winner. The original Winner will have no claim to that Prize if they fail to accept the prize within 14 days of the date of the Notification.

  1. How will I receive my Prize?  

Subject to Checkatrade receiving Acceptance (where applicable), each Prize will be paid into the respective Winners Account within 45 days of Notification.

  1. Is there anything else I need to know about the Prize?  

5.1 This Prize Draw is subject to compliance with the Checkatrade Terms and Conditions for Tradespeople, including the Product Terms – Payment Services  (the “Agreement”). If an Eligible Member fails to comply with the Agreement prior to receipt of the Prize, Checkatrade reserves the right to withdraw the Prize. If an Eligible Member fails to comply with the Agreement after receipt of the Prize, Checkatrade may (at its sole discretion and without prejudice to its other rights and remedies under the Agreement) require that Eligible Member to reimburse the cost of the Prize.

5.2 Where a word has a capital letter it will have the meaning defined in these Offer Terms and Conditions, or the Agreement (as applicable).

5.3 Checkatrade reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to extend the duration of the Prize Draw for a reasonable period of time.

5.4 Checkatrade reserves the right to substitute the Prizes with prizes of equal or greater value if the Prizes described above cannot be provided to the Winners for any reason.

5.5 The Prize is personal to the Winner and is not transferable to any other person or third party.

5.6 Checkatrade’s decision will be final and binding.

5.7 Checkatrade will use any information which the Winners provide or which they obtain from their dealings with the Winners in accordance with their Privacy Notice and to administer the draw. Checkatrade’s Privacy Notice is available at https://www.checkatrade.com/blog/checkatrade-privacy-notice/.

5.8 Checkatrade must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. Checkatrade will provide the Winner’s surname and link to the Winner’s Checkatrade webpage to anyone who emails [email protected] within one month from the Winner being determined. If the Winner objects to this information being made available, please advise Checkatrade by email to [email protected]. In such circumstances, Checkatrade must still provide the information to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.

5.9 Checkatrade together with any associated third parties, agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this Prize Draw or accepting or using the Prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. Nothing will Checkatrade’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.

5.10 Checkatrade reserves the right to change, alter or withdraw the Prize Draw at any time. If any of these terms and conditions are found to be void or unenforceable, that term shall be deemed to be deleted, and the remaining terms and conditions shall continue in full force and effect.

5.11 These terms and conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
