- How much does a priced service booking cost?
A service fee will be applied to the agreed price with the consumer. This fee is dynamic based on the value of the job. We will be using the following scaled model:
- What priced services can I add?
You can add any services that you offer which are suitable for online booking — things you can price upfront and schedule easily. These might include smaller, well-defined jobs like:
- Fitting a tap or shower
- Boiler servicing
- Lawn mowing or hedge trimming
- Socket replacement
- Flat-pack furniture assembly
- ...and more.
Essentially, if it’s a job you can quote a fixed price for, it’s a great fit for Book & Pay. The clearer and more specific your service listing, the easier it’ll be for customers to book you instantly.
You can either create a service from scratch or you can use our AI tool or template to help you put your best foot forward. All services will go through our moderation process and may be rejected if they do not meet our quality standards. You will be able to review and manage this from you members area. - Is there a limit to the number of priced services I can add?
There’s no limit — you can add as many priced services as you like, as long as each one is clear, accurately priced, and something you genuinely offer. Most trades list between 3 to 10, depending on their trade.
- What if I don’t want to accept the priced service job?
No problem — you’re always in control.
If a booking request comes in and you can’t take it (for example, the time doesn’t work or the job isn’t quite right), you can decline it straight away. The customer will be notified, and they won’t be charged, and nor will you.
If you’ve already confirmed a job but something changes, you can cancel through the app — we just ask that you give as much notice as possible so the customer has time to rebook.
- How do I get paid for priced service jobs?
If you are using Checkatrade Pay, when a customer books your service, their payment is securely held (pre-authorised) on their card — so you know the funds are guaranteed before you even start the job.
Once you mark the job as complete, the payment is automatically released, and you’ll receive the money in your account within 4 working days.
You can also choose to receive up to 25% of the payment upfront when the job is booked. This can help cover materials or travel costs, with the remaining balance paid once the work’s finished.
If you choose to use an off-platform payment method (i.e. not Checkatrade Pay) the job will be chargeable at the point of the booking being confirmed.
- What if the customer cancels a priced service job?
If a customer cancels, do not worry, you will not be charged for this service. The consumer will need to mark the job as cancelled in the Checkatrade app, otherwise you may need to provide evidence of the cancellation.
- How do I price my service?
You set your own prices — we just make it easy for you to list them clearly.
When you create your service listings you can use our AI tool or service templates which will recommend you a price, but ultimately you're in control and choose how much you want to charge.
